About Giorgia

Professor Giorgia Pastorin serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the National University of Singapore (NUS). A pharmaceutical scientist by training and a registered pharmacist from Italy, she earned her MSc and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Trieste, Italy, in 2004. Following a research fellow position in France, she joined NUS in June 2006 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy within the Faculty of Science. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2011 and to Full Professor in 2024. Her leadership appointments at NUS include Assistant Head in 2014, Deputy Head in 2016, Assistant Dean in 2017, and Head of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Professor Pastorin leads the BioNanotechnology (BNT) research group, with key research areas encompassing drug delivery strategies through engineered nanovesicles and bio-hybrid systems, as well as targeted nanomedicines. Her work also focuses on drug delivery and platinum-based chemotherapy. She has authored or co-authored 231 publications and accumulated over 14,000 citations. Notable recognitions include national and international awards along with the NRF-Central Gap Fund Award. She has contributed to publications such as a paper in Chemical Reviews and has been invited as a plenary or keynote speaker at prestigious international conferences. Professor Pastorin maintains an active role in advancing pharmaceutical sciences through her research and departmental leadership at NUS.
