Prof. (Dr.) Goutam Sutradhar serves as Director of the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, a position he has held since 12 May 2023. He previously served as Director of the National Institute of Technology, Manipur. His academic career includes a tenure as Professor on lien at Jadavpur University. He earned a B.E. from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College in 1985, an M.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra in 1998, with his doctoral work focused on the forming of sintered powder products in the Production Engineering Department.
Dr. Sutradhar is recognized as a Professor of Manufacturing Technology, with expertise encompassing Foundry and Forge Technology, Machining Technology and Metrology, Material Handling Systems, and advanced manufacturing processes. His research specializations include casting, metal matrix composites, and foundry technologies. He has authored more than 125 research papers, written academic books, guided numerous Ph.D. scholars, and holds multiple patents.
