Grany Mmatsatsi Senyolo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Crop Sciences at Tshwane University of Technology. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, awarded in 2019 as the first Black South African to achieve this distinction. Her research specializations center on agricultural economics, with a focus on smallholder farming systems, market participation, value chains for underutilized crops such as African leafy vegetables, climate-smart irrigation technologies, agro-processing decisions, and rural household food security. Prior to her current role, she served as a lecturer in Agricultural Economics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Senyolo has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including studies on factors influencing the adoption of climate-smart irrigation technologies (2021 and 2023), socio-economic factors in agro-processing participation (2019), patterns of output market access by emerging farmers (2009), and analyses of value chains and consumer willingness-to-pay for African leafy vegetables (2018 and 2014). Her work has garnered significant citations, exceeding 795 on Google Scholar. She contributes to the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa and has participated in initiatives related to agri-business management and graduate tracking at Tshwane University of Technology.
