Gwendolyn Eadie is an Assistant Professor of Astrostatistics at the University of Toronto, jointly appointed in the David A. Dunlap Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics and the Department of Statistical Sciences. She holds a PhD in Physics & Astronomy from McMaster University (2017), an MSc in Physics, Engineering Physics, & Astronomy from Queen’s University (2013), and a BSc in Physics with a Minor in Publishing from Simon Fraser University (2010). Prior to her appointment at Toronto, she completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Washington through the eScience Institute and DIRAC Institute, as well as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Her research focuses on astrostatistics, including the development and application of Bayesian hierarchical modelling, statistical inference, and time series analysis to study the structure and dynamics of the Milky Way Galaxy, globular clusters, and related astronomical phenomena. She founded and co-leads the Astrostatistics Research Team at the University of Toronto and has served as Chair of the American Astronomical Society’s Working Group on Astroinformatics & Astrostatistics (2021–2024) and Chair of the American Statistical Association’s Astrostatistics Interest Group (2025). Eadie received the J.S. Plaskett Medal in 2018 from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and the Canadian Astronomical Society for her doctoral work. In 2026 she was awarded the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies Emerging Leader Award and the Cheryl Regehr Early Career Teaching Award at the University of Toronto. Her work has contributed to advancing statistical methods in astronomy and has been recognized through leadership roles in professional organizations.
