Dr. Hayssam Hammad is Assistant Professor of Private Law at Abu Dhabi University, where he has served since February 2024. He currently holds the position of Chair of the Private Law Department. In addition, he serves as Internationalization Officer for the College of Law, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the College of Law Journal, and Assistant Director at the Law and Security Futures Research Center. Dr. Hammad earned his PhD in Law from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom in 2015. His doctoral thesis is titled “Ownership and Authorship in Copyright Law (A Proposal to Re-Categorise Works and a Digital Implementation).” Prior to joining Abu Dhabi University, he was a Lecturer of Civil Law at Helwan University in Egypt. His research interests encompass civil law, contract law, intellectual property law, sustainability, and interdisciplinary legal studies. Dr. Hammad has authored several books published by Helwan University Press, including Labour Law (2019), Intellectual Property Law – Comparative Study (2018), Principles of Law (Theory of Law and Theory of Right) (2018), Legal Drafting and Writing Skills (2018), Copyright and Neighboring Rights, Comparative Study, UK, Egypt (2016), Contracts and Torts in UK Law (2016), Environmental Protection Law – Comparative Study (2016), Anglo-American Legal System (Judiciary) (2016), and Introduction to Legal Sciences (Law Theory) (2016). He has also contributed to peer-reviewed articles and conference papers on topics such as the legal basis of civil liability for harms caused by misleading content on social media under UAE legislation, legal liabilities of climate change impacts, and ownership and authorship issues in copyright law. His work appears in outlets including Access to Justice in Eastern Europe and Scientific Culture. Dr. Hammad maintains an active scholarly profile with verified publications listed on Google Scholar.
