About Hiromitsu

Hiromitsu Takahashi is an Associate Professor in the Physics Program at Hiroshima University. He conducts research in high-energy astrophysics, primarily observing celestial sources with satellites and balloons. Takahashi has contributed to the development of small satellites designed to monitor unpredictable gamma-ray bursts across the sky and to measure gamma-ray polarization, providing new insights into the geometry and magnetic fields of these phenomena and their potential connections to gravitational wave sources. His work includes involvement in projects such as the Hitomi satellite. He previously held the position of Assistant Professor (Special Appointment) at the Hiroshima Astrophysical Science Center from 2008 to 2012 and later served as Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Science before his current role. Recognized as a Distinguished Researcher, Takahashi focuses on advancing observational capabilities in X-ray and gamma-ray astronomy through instrument development, including electronic recording systems for high-energy radiation detection.
