Rate My Professor Huisheng Peng

Huisheng Peng received his BEng in Polymer Materials from Donghua University in 1999, his MSc in Polymer Science from Fudan University in 2003, and his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University in 2006. He served as Director’s Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 2006 to 2008. Since 2008 he has been Professor in the Department of Macromolecular Science and the Laboratory of Advanced Materials at Fudan University. He was appointed Changjiang Chair Professor in 2014 and University Professor in 2020. He served as Head of the Department of Macromolecular Science from 2019 to 2024 and was elected Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2023.

Professor Peng’s research centers on functional composite materials, energy harvesting and storage materials and devices, fiber electronics, and related cross-disciplinary areas spanning chemistry, physics, energy, and biomedical science. He and his collaborators have developed novel fiber-shaped devices, including batteries, solar cells, actuators, and light-emitting electrochemical cells, with several technologies transferred to industry through patents and spin-off companies. He has authored or co-authored more than 350 peer-reviewed papers as corresponding author, including publications in Nature and its sister journals, and four books or monographs. He holds over 110 licensed patents, with more than 50 transferred to industry, and has initiated multiple companies commercializing fiber-device products. Professor Peng has received more than 40 awards and honors, including the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award, the First Prize of the National Teaching Award, and recognition from the Falling Walls Foundation. He serves on the editorial boards of more than 20 journals and in leadership roles for numerous professional organizations.
