Professor Innocent Musonda is a Full Professor of Construction Project Management in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Management along with qualifications in Construction Management and Civil Engineering. He is a registered Civil Engineer, a professional Construction Manager, and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Building. Professor Musonda has professional experience in the public and private sectors across Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia. He founded and directs the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg and has chaired the international Development and Investments in Infrastructure conference series since its inception in 2014. He also serves as a roaming scholar at the University of Toronto on the Engineering Education for Sustainable Cities in Africa project.
His research focuses on construction health and safety, Building Information Modelling and digital applications in the built environment, infrastructure development and sustainability, energy efficiency, and skills development. Professor Musonda is a member of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction. He acts as an assessor for the Australian Research Council and the National Research Foundation of South Africa and has reviewed for the Academy of Science of South Africa. He is also a co-chairperson of the Development and Investments in Infrastructure conference series.
