Rate My Professor Irfan Hussain

Dr. Irfan Hussain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He earned a Ph.D. in Information Engineering from the University of Siena in Italy, a second-level master’s degree specializing in automation and control technologies from Politecnico di Torino in Italy, an M.S. in Mechatronics Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology in Pakistan, and a B.E. in Mechatronics Engineering from Air University in Pakistan. Prior to his current role, Dr. Hussain served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Robotics Institute at Khalifa University and at the Siena Robotics and Systems Lab in Italy. He also worked as a research assistant at Gyeongsang National University in South Korea and as a visiting researcher at Centro Ricerche Fiat in Italy, and held the position of Assistant Manager of Engineering at Trojans Pakistan.

Dr. Hussain’s research interests include marine robotics, healthcare robotics, industrial robotics, physical intelligence robotics, and cognitive intelligence robotics. He is the author of one book, more than 70 articles, and holds three inventions. Dr. Hussain serves as Associate Editor of the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science. He is also Research Topic Editor for a special issue in Frontiers in Neurorobotics and has been Guest Editor for a special issue in Sensors.
