About James

Dr James Doecke is a senior research scientist and team leader in the CSIRO Health and Biosecurity Division at the Australian e-Health Research Centre. He leads a team of statisticians focused on the application of statistical methods to biomarker data, with primary interests in Alzheimer’s disease, cancer genomics and inflammatory bowel disease. His background is in biostatistics, statistical genetics and molecular biology.

Dr Doecke holds a Bachelor of Health Science with first-class honours (2003) and a PhD (2006) from Griffith University. He worked as a biostatistician at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research from 2006 to 2008 before joining CSIRO in 2008 as Senior Research Scientist and Team Leader. His awards include the 2005 Australian Bone and Mineral Society Young Investigator of the Year Award and the 2011 CSIRO Julius Career Award. He has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on topics including blood-based biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease, with research appearing in journals such as Neurology and Alzheimer’s & Dementia. Dr Doecke maintains professional memberships including the International Biometrics Society and has contributed to editorial and review activities for journals in neurology and biomarkers.
