Dr James Quach is a Science Leader at CSIRO, where he leads the Quantum Batteries Team. He serves as the inaugural Chair of the International Conference on Quantum Energy. Previously, he held positions as a Ramsay Fellow at The University of Adelaide, a Marie Curie Fellow at the Institute of Photonics Science in Barcelona, and a JSPS Fellow at the University of Tokyo. He completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Melbourne in 2013, following a Postgraduate Diploma of Science with first-class honours in 2007 and bachelor degrees in commerce, engineering with honours, and computer science in 2001, all from the University of Melbourne. He also holds an adjunct lecturer position at The University of Adelaide.
Dr Quach’s research focuses on quantum science, encompassing quantum technology, quantum computing, quantum biology, quantum chaos, quantum thermodynamics, and quantum gravity. In addition to his academic and research roles, he has experience as a management consultant at IBM Business Consulting Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers, advising high-profile organisations at the executive level. He works at the scientific-industry interface to advance quantum technology development in Australia and internationally. Recent contributions include leading the team that developed and tested a proof-of-concept quantum battery prototype demonstrating rapid, scalable charging and energy storage at room temperature.
