About Jason

Professor Jason Tylianakis is a Professor of Ecology at the University of Canterbury in the School of Biological Sciences. He also holds a position as Visiting Professor at Imperial College London. He completed his PhD at the University of Göttingen and his master’s degree at the University of Canterbury. Following his doctoral studies, he began a faculty position at the University of Canterbury, where he has maintained a distinguished academic career.

His research focuses on community ecology and evolution, with particular emphasis on food webs, ecological networks, biodiversity, pollination, and the impacts of global environmental change on species interactions. Professor Tylianakis received the University of Canterbury Research Medal in 2019 in recognition of his contributions to the field. He maintains an active research program with numerous publications in leading journals, including highly cited works on ecological networks across environmental gradients and responses of species interactions to global change.
