Jen Hayes is a postdoctoral scholar in the Pollinator Health Lab in the Horticulture Department at Oregon State University. She completed her PhD in Horticulture with a concentration in Entomology at Oregon State University in 2025. Her doctoral research, conducted as a member of the Garden Ecology Lab, examined differences in bee visitation, abundance, and diversity between native plants and their cultivated varieties, along with measurements of floral traits. Hayes earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies with minors in Ecological Agriculture and Spanish from the University of Vermont.
At Oregon State University, Hayes serves as an instructor for the Bee Stewards and Master Melittologist Extension programs. Her work focuses on pollinator ecology, with contributions to studies on native plants and pollinator benefits. She previously held positions supporting pollinator surveys in Oregon and North Dakota.
