Jerron Jorgensen serves as Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Choral Studies/Vocal Studies, Music History instructor, and Music Department Chair at Southern Oregon University. He joined the university in 2022. Dr. Jorgensen holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance from The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from South Dakota State University. Prior to his appointment at Southern Oregon University, he served as Director of Choral Activities at Coker University in Hartsville, South Carolina. Under his direction, his ensembles have been national finalists in the American Prize, participated in professional recording projects, and performed at choral conferences. In May 2022, Dr. Jorgensen made his Carnegie Hall debut as a guest conductor with MidAmerica Productions and the New England Symphonic Ensemble. His professional experience encompasses roles as conductor, soloist, chorister, teacher, and arranger. Dr. Jorgensen currently serves as Artistic Director of the Rogue Valley Chorale. His work in operatic and choral settings emphasizes contemporary works by living composers, including world premieres by Dale Trumbore, Evan Mack, and Joel Thompson. As a chorister, he has performed with the GRAMMY-nominated True Concord Voices & Orchestra and the Taylor Festival Choir. His soloist performances include engagements with Hartford Opera Theater, Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra, Rhode Island Civic Chorale & Orchestra, Soli Deo Gloria Orchestra, New Haven Oratorio Choir, New Haven Chorale, Madison Lyric Stage, Heartland Opera, and The Scottsdale Musical Arts.
