About Jiamin

Jiamin Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University and a Principal Investigator at the IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Tsinghua University. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Automation from Tsinghua University in 2014 and a PhD in Control Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2019. From 2016 to 2018, he was a visiting graduate student at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. His career at Tsinghua University includes a postdoctoral position from 2019 to 2021, Assistant Professor from 2021 to 2024, and promotion to Associate Professor in 2024.

Wu’s research focuses on computational optics, biomedical imaging, and optoelectronic computing, with emphasis on intravital mesoscale microscopy and system biology. He has developed frameworks such as camera-array-based gigapixel mesoscale microscopy and scanning light field microscopy, achieving significant improvements in spatiotemporal resolution and reductions in phototoxicity. Key publications include papers in Nature (2022, 2023), Cell (2021, 2023), Nature Methods (2023), and Nature Photonics. He has received awards including the 2022 MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Asia Pacific, 2022 Alibaba DAMO Academy Young Fellow, and 2023 ICBS Frontiers of Science Award. Wu serves as Associate Editor for PhotoniX, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, and Optics Express.
