Professor Jiangang Li is a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China and a research fellow at the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science. He formerly served as Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of China and as Director of the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2015. His academic background includes a bachelor's degree from Harbin Engineering University in 1982, a master's degree in 1985, and a Ph.D. in 1990 from the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also worked for two years as a visiting researcher at Culham Science Center in the United Kingdom.
Professor Li's research focuses on plasma physics. He has contributed to major projects in magnetic confinement fusion, including the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST). He serves as an editor for the peer-reviewed journals Plasma Science and Technology and Nuclear Fusion. He has held leadership roles such as Dean of the School of Nuclear Science and Technology at the University of Science and Technology of China and has delivered public lectures on topics including the prospects of nuclear fusion energy.
