Jin-Oh Park is an Associate Professor at the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute of The University of Tokyo. His research field is Marine Geology and Geophysics with a specialization in reflection seismology. His scientific interest centers on the comprehensive understanding of trench-arc-backarc basin systems on Earth. He focuses on marine geologic and geophysical studies in plate convergent margins such as the Nankai Trough, primarily through 2-D and 3-D multichannel seismic reflection investigations, including prestack depth imaging studies and physical property estimation along the Nankai subduction zone.
Representative publications include the 2012 paper "Seismic reflection and bathymetric evidences for the Nankai earthquake rupture across a stable segment-boundary" co-authored with Shuichi Kodaira and published in Earth Planets Space, the 2010 paper "A low-velocity zone with weak reflectivity along the Nankai subduction zone" published in Geology, and the 2009 paper "Seismotectonic implications of the Kyushu-Palau ridge subducting beneath the westernmost Nankai forearc" published in Earth Planets Space.
