Associate Professor Joshua Zadro is a physiotherapist and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow at the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health within the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. He holds the positions of Senior Research Fellow and Sydney University Robinson Fellow. Zadro completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) with First Class Honours and a PhD at the University of Sydney in 2018. His research focuses on developing and testing strategies to reduce the overuse of low-value care for musculoskeletal conditions and on improving equitable access to effective and affordable musculoskeletal healthcare. He has published 117 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals including the BMJ, JAMA Internal Medicine, British Journal of Sports Medicine and Journal of Physiotherapy. Zadro has secured $8.4 million in research funding as a chief investigator, including $3 million as lead chief investigator from the Medical Research Future Fund and National Health and Medical Research Council. He received the Young Researcher of the Year award from Sydney Research in 2023 and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Physiotherapy. Zadro supervises a research team that includes one research fellow, ten PhD students and numerous honours and masters students.
