About Karl

Karl Aquino is the Richard Poon Professor of Organizations and Society in the Marketing and Behavioural Science Division at the UBC Sauder School of Business. He holds a BSc from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MSc, and a PhD from Northwestern University. His research focuses on forgiveness and reconciliation, moral cognition and behaviour, status and social dominance, organizational justice, and workplace victimization. Professor Aquino joined UBC after completing his doctorate in 1992 and has built a distinguished career at the institution, where he leads the Immorality Lab.

Professor Aquino has authored more than 95 refereed journal articles and 10 book chapters, with publications appearing in leading outlets such as Organization Science, Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Academy of Management Review, and Journal of Marketing. His work has garnered over 25,000 citations on Google Scholar. In 2021, he received the UBC Killam Research Prize in the Arts and Humanities, Senior Category, in recognition of his outstanding scholarly contributions. His research has also attracted media coverage in major outlets including the Washington Post, The Guardian, Globe and Mail, and The Atlantic.
