Kathy Pritchard-Jones is Emeritus Professor of Paediatric Oncology at University College London Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. She studied biochemistry and medicine at St Hugh’s College, University of Oxford, from 1977 to 1983, obtaining her BMBCh degree. She completed postgraduate clinical and research training in paediatrics, including a PhD on Wilms tumour genes undertaken in Edinburgh.
Her research focuses on childhood kidney cancers, particularly Wilms tumour, and she has led multi-centre and international clinical trials in this area. She has held consultant positions in paediatric oncology for more than twenty-five years and has contributed to clinical leadership in cancer services. Pritchard-Jones has received the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Paediatric Oncology and is an Honorary Fellow of St Hugh’s College, Oxford. She maintains an extensive publication record with over 500 outputs and more than 35,000 citations.
