Kei Owada is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland. She is affiliated with the Queensland Alliance for One Health Sciences. Owada earned her PhD in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from the University of Queensland in 2019. Her research focuses on zoonotic infectious disease surveillance and modelling, including the application of spatial epidemiological modelling approaches to investigate associations between zoonotic infectious diseases and environmental risk factors in Australia, as well as biosecurity related projects.
Prior to her current role, Owada participated in the World Health Organization's response to the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone in 2014 while pursuing her doctoral studies. She has contributed to research on topics such as geospatial models for disease introduction pathways and epidemiological risk factors and modelling approaches.
