About Kie Leong

Professor Kie Leong Teo is the Dean of the College of Design and Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). An NUS alumnus, he joined the university in 1999 as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He served as Vice Dean, Research & Technology at the Faculty of Engineering from 2011 to 2019, overseeing an average of S$135 million annually in competitive research grants and charting strategic research directions. From 2019 to 2021, he was Deputy Dean (Academic Affairs and Education) at the Faculty of Engineering, responsible for academic programme planning, development, and top talent management. He played a key role in the expansion of Continuous Education and Training programmes and the transition of the Faculty’s Master’s programmes to self-funded status. Professor Teo contributed to the integration of engineering and design education following the 2022 formation of the College of Design and Engineering. He served as Acting Dean prior to assuming the full deanship on 1 April 2024.

A leading expert in spintronics, Professor Teo’s research focuses on nano-magnetics, semiconductor devices, and the development of low-power non-volatile memory through material and device research. At the national level, he has served on research review committees of the National Research Foundation and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research, as well as on various research or technical review panels and conference organisation committees. In 2019, he received the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) under the National Day Award.
