About KK

Professor KK Deepak is a distinguished physiologist affiliated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he served as Professor and Head of the Department of Physiology, Dean (Exams), and Chief of the Centre for Medical Education and Technology. He holds MD and PhD degrees from AIIMS and later received DSc and FAMS recognitions. His career at AIIMS began in 1987 as faculty, following completion of his MD in 1984 and PhD studies. Deepak established the first Autonomic Function Testing laboratory in India at AIIMS in 1989, which has since generated extensive research output, including over 195 peer-reviewed papers in indexed journals on autonomic and vascular functions, and trained numerous professionals who have taken leadership roles nationally and in SAARC countries. He has also contributed to medical education initiatives, including through the Centre for Medical Education and Technology, and collaborated on biomedical engineering projects with institutions such as IIT Delhi.

Deepak's research specializations encompass autonomic nervous system function measurement in humans, yoga physiology, space physiology, and interdisciplinary biomedical applications. He served as Sub-Dean and later Dean of Examinations at AIIMS, overseeing examination processes including during the COVID-19 period, and held roles such as Secretary of the Delhi chapter of the Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India. In 2022, he transitioned to Visiting Professor at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi. Deepak received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Autonomic Neurosciences for his contributions to the field. He has published extensively, with work abstracted in over 500 scientific communications, and maintains active involvement in editorial and organizational roles in physiology societies.
