About Kristine

Kristine Dalton is an Associate Professor and Graduate Officer at the School of Optometry & Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. She holds an OD and MSc from the University of Waterloo and a PhD from Aston University, along with qualifications MCOptom, FAAO, and FBCLA. Dalton established and directs the Vision and Motor Performance Lab, founded the Sports Vision Clinic at the university in 2014, and expanded its services to include the Brain Injury Clinic in 2019. In her clinical practice, she provides performance vision enhancement and vision rehabilitation services for athletes and individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury or concussion.

Dalton’s research focuses on sports performance, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation for both able-bodied and Para athletes, and Paralympic classification systems for athletes with vision impairment. She has published over 20 papers and delivered more than 80 conference presentations while supervising over 40 undergraduate and graduate students. Her contributions include work on sport-specific classification for Para athletes with vision impairment and guidelines on concussion management. Dalton is a member of the Concussion in Para Sport group. She received the Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the University of Waterloo in 2018 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the British Contact Lens Association.
