About Laura

Laura N. Anderson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence, and Impact within the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University. She holds a BSc from the University of Guelph, an MSc from the University of Western Ontario, and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Her professional appointments include serving as Director of the Graduate Diploma in Community and Public Health program and as Co-Director of the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis at McMaster University. She also acts as the Hamilton site co-principal investigator for the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging and as an ICES adjunct scientist.

Dr. Anderson’s primary research focuses on population and public health, with emphasis on life course epidemiology, primary prevention of chronic diseases, obesity, modifiable chronic disease risk factors, health inequalities, and the impact of early-life modifiable determinants of health on healthy aging. She leads multiple studies using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging to examine how these factors evolve over time. In addition to her academic roles, she contributes to public health initiatives through her affiliations and research leadership in these areas.
