About Laurie

Laurie Ricker is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Mount Allison University, where she also serves as the Computer Science program advisor. Her professional email address is lricker@mta.ca.

She holds the title of Professor of Computer Science and has conducted research in discrete-event systems, with publications addressing topics such as decentralized control, opacity enforcement, inference in supervisory control, and communication protocols in discrete-event systems. Key works include papers on incorporating knowledge into discrete-event control systems (2000), DESUMA: a tool integrating GIDDES and UMDES (2006), and decentralized failure diagnosis with asynchronous communication (2001). She earned her PhD from Queen's University. Ricker has held her position at Mount Allison University since at least the early 2000s and has contributed to departmental initiatives, including the development of interdisciplinary programs combining computer science and music. She has also served as president of the Mount Allison Faculty Association.
