Leslie Loble AM is an Industry Professor at the University of Technology Sydney’s Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion. She previously served as Deputy Secretary in the NSW Department of Education for 20 years, where she led strategy, reform and innovative delivery across schooling, early childhood and tertiary education sectors. In that role, she chaired the national Schools Policy Group and led initiatives including the guarantee of two years of preschool, the establishment of the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation, and the Education for a Changing World program addressing the future of work.
Professor Loble is Chair of the Australian Network for Quality Digital Education and Co-Chair of the Council on Early Childhood Development. She is a Fellow of the Centre for Policy Development and has held governance roles with the Australian Education Research Organisation and the Copyright Agency. Her contributions to education reform have been recognised with the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2022, inclusion in the Australian Financial Review/Westpac Top 100 Women of Influence in 2013, and recognition as one of Australia’s top 50 school education innovators in 2019. She has co-authored reports on artificial intelligence and education, including work examining cognitive offloading and implications for schooling, and has contributed to publications exploring education in an AI world.
