Professor Lian Pin Koh is Vice President (Sustainability and Resilience) and Chief Sustainability Scientist at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He also serves as the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple Chair Professor of Conservation and Director of the Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions at NUS. Koh holds a BSc with First Class Honours and an MSc in Biological Sciences from NUS, awarded in 2001 and 2003 respectively, and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University in 2008. His research focuses on conservation science, tropical ecology, and the development of nature-based climate solutions, including the use of emerging technologies such as drones for environmental monitoring and applications. He has held previous appointments including Swiss National Science Foundation Professor at ETH Zurich, Chair of Applied Ecology and Conservation at the University of Adelaide, and Vice President of Science Partnerships and Innovation at Conservation International. Koh founded Conservation Drones, a non-profit organization promoting drone technology in conservation. He has published over 150 journal articles in outlets including Nature, Science, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, with research garnering more than 28,000 citations. Among his honors are the World Economic Forum Young Global Leader award in 2013, the Frontiers Planet Prize National Champion in 2023, the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship, and appointment as a Nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore in 2021. Koh has delivered public lectures including a TED Global talk on drones in conservation and spoken at United Nations Climate Change Conferences.
