Rate My Professor Lianzhong Zhang

Lianzhong Zhang is a professor at Beijing Foreign Studies University. He serves as Professor of Linguistics and English education and as Executive Vice President of the China Basic Foreign Language Education Research and Training Centre (China BFLE) at the university. Zhang is a key member of the National English Syllabus Standard Drafting Committee under the Ministry of Education of China. He is also the chief editor of Student Times, a weekly English newspaper for Chinese students of English that reaches more than five million readers.

His research interests include linguistics, ELT theory, socio-linguistics, language testing, cultural linguistics, teacher education, curriculum and materials development. Zhang has contributed to discussions on English education policy in China, including comments on compulsory English courses and the development of national standards focused on practical language abilities. He has participated in international forums on primary innovations in English language teaching and early English education.
