Professor Lisa Robinson is the Dean of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and Vice Provost, Relations with Health Care Institutions at the University of Toronto. She is a professor in the Department of Paediatrics and the Institute of Medical Science. She previously served as Head of the Division of Nephrology at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and as a Senior Scientist in the Cell Biology program at the SickKids Research Institute. Professor Robinson holds a Canada Research Chair Tier 1 in vascular inflammation and kidney injury. Her clinical specialization is in paediatric nephrology, with a focus on caring for children with kidney disease and renal transplantation.
Professor Robinson received her MD from the University of Toronto. She completed training in Internal Medicine at The Toronto Hospital, a residency in Paediatrics at Western University, and Paediatric Nephrology and research training at Duke University, where she also served on the faculty. Her research program, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, explores immune responses in kidney injury and disease progression using approaches from biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, advanced microscopy, and disease models. She has also investigated strategies to expand the pool of viable donor kidneys for transplantation. Professor Robinson is a dedicated mentor who founded the SickKids Research Institute’s Kids Science program to support students from under-served communities. She was appointed Dean effective July 1, 2024, for a five-year term.
