Liu Leo Liu is a Professor with tenure in the Department of Chemistry at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He leads a research team focused on the development of (multi-active) ambiphilic main group centers. Liu Leo Liu earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Xiamen University in 2011 and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Xiamen University in 2016, with joint Ph.D. study at the University of California, San Diego. His career at SUSTech includes appointments as Assistant Professor (tenure-track) from September 2020 to May 2022, Associate Professor (tenure-track) from June 2022 to May 2026, and Professor with tenure from June 2026 to the present.
Liu Leo Liu has received several awards, including the Chinese Chemical Society Young Chemist Award in 2022, the CCS Jingqing Rising Star Award in 2022, the Huang Yao-Zeng Organometallic Chemistry Award for Young Chemists in 2023-2024, the Distinguished Lectureship Award from the Chemical Society of Japan in 2024, the Chinese Chemical Society-Royal Society of Chemistry Young Chemist Award in 2025, and the EurJIC-Wöhler Young Investigator Prize in 2026. Key publications include works in Nature (2026), Science (2024), Nature Chemistry (2024 and 2026), and Nature Synthesis (2023 and 2026).
