Rate My Professor Lucia Helena Mascaro

Lucia Helena Mascaro Sales is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar). She earned her BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Chemistry from UFSCar and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. Her academic career at UFSCar includes appointments as Associate Professor and later Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry, where she has contributed to teaching and research in physical chemistry and electrochemistry.

Her research focuses on electrochemistry with emphasis on materials for energy applications, electrochemical sensors, electrochemical degradation of residues, electrodeposition, corrosion, and related areas such as hydrogen and ammonia production. She serves as a researcher at the Center for Innovation in New Energies (CINE), the Center for the Development of Functional Materials (CDMF – FAPESP CEPID), and the Center for Sustainable Chemistry (CERSusChem). Mascaro coordinates national and international research projects and advises funding agencies in Brazil and abroad. She is Vice-President of the International Society of Electrochemistry and coordinator of PUBLI-SBQ. She received the ACS–SBQ Brazilian Women in Chemistry Award in the Academic Leadership category. Her scholarly output includes numerous peer-reviewed publications in electrochemistry and materials science, with substantial citation impact in academic databases.
