About Luciano

Luciano Cavalcante de Jesus França is a Professor of Forest Engineering at the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU), affiliated with the Instituto de Ciências Agrárias (ICIAG) at the Monte Carmelo campus. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI), a Master’s degree in Forest Sciences from the Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri (UFVJM) obtained in 2018, and a Doctorate in Forest Engineering from the Universidade Federal de Lavras (UFLA) completed in 2022. His academic background centers on forest management, with research lines in geotechnologies, forest planning and optimization, management of native forests and conservation units, and forest landscape ecology.

Since joining UFU as a full-time faculty member in the Magistério Superior career track with exclusive dedication, Professor França has focused his work on spatial analysis, land use planning, and optimization models applied to forestry. His contributions include publications on topics such as the delimitation of ecological corridors using GIS and AHP approaches, forest fire hazard zoning, forest landscape planning reviews, and environmental fragility mapping. He maintains an active research profile through the NUPLAMFLOR laboratory and participates in graduate programs related to forest sciences.
