Marion F. Ehrich is Professor Emerita of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, where she has been a faculty member since 1980. She also serves as Co-director of the Laboratory for Neurotoxicity Studies. Ehrich earned a BS in Pharmacy from South Dakota State University in 1968, an MS in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Chicago in 1970, and a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Connecticut in 1975. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (certified in 1980 with ongoing recertifications) and a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences (1999). Prior to her faculty appointment, she worked as a Research Associate in the Anaerobe Lab at Virginia Tech from 1976 to 1980.
Ehrich’s research focuses on biochemical neurotoxicology, particularly the neurotoxicity of organophosphorus compounds, as well as the safety and toxicology of potential therapeutic agents evaluated in rodent models. She has authored or co-authored more than 150 publications. Ehrich has held leadership roles in the Society of Toxicology, including serving as president in 2003–2004, and received the Society’s Merit Award in 2010 and Founders Award for Outstanding Leadership in Toxicology in 2025. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Academy of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and the American College of Toxicology.
