Professor Martin Jones is Professor of Human Geography and served as Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Staffordshire University from January 2022 until May 2026. He joined the university in May 2017 as Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Prior to his appointments at Staffordshire University, he held positions at the University of Sheffield, including as Director of the White Rose Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership. Professor Jones holds a BA (Hons) and a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Manchester. His research focuses on geographical political economy, and he is a founding Co-Director of the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD). He has been recognised as a highly cited scholar in his field, with over 13,000 citations on Google Scholar.
