Masahiro Kamitani is a Junior Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the School of Science, Kitasato University, where he has held his current position since April 2021. He earned his B.Sc. in 2008, M.Sc. in 2010, and Ph.D. in Science in 2013 from Osaka City University. Prior to his appointment at Kitasato University, he served as a JSPS Research Fellow at Osaka City University from 2012 to 2014 and conducted postdoctoral research following his doctoral studies.

His research centers on organometallic chemistry with an emphasis on the development of iron-based catalysts for sustainable applications, including silicone curing processes and C-H borylation reactions. Kamitani has received recognition including the Inoue Research Award for Young Scientists in 2016. His work contributes to efforts in replacing scarce platinum catalysts with earth-abundant iron alternatives in industrial materials production. He maintains an active research group focused on coordination chemistry and catalytic innovations aligned with sustainable development goals.
