Mingjian Yuan is a researcher at Nankai University. He holds a doctor degree and is affiliated with the Institute of Applied Chemistry and Engineering in the College of Chemistry. Yuan joined Nankai University as a professor of chemistry effective September 1, 2016. Prior to this appointment he was associated with the University of Toronto. His research focuses on electronic devices, quantum dots, conjugated polymers and perovskite materials for optoelectronic applications. Yuan leads a research group in the Key Laboratory of Advanced Energy Materials Chemistry at Nankai University that investigates chiral quasi-two-dimensional perovskite materials. The group has developed efficient flexible circularly polarized light photodetectors using these materials and has demonstrated their ability to distinguish left-handed and right-handed circularly polarized light through electrical signals. Work from the group has been published in Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
