About Moein

Dr Moein Shamoushaki is a Research Associate in Life Cycle and Supply Chain Analyses at the Management School of the University of Sheffield. He is affiliated with the South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre and the Energy Institute. His work focuses on life cycle assessment and supply chain innovation for energy systems, including heat pumps, renewable-based power plants, and hydrogen production, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions and environmental impacts to support net-zero goals in South Yorkshire and the UK.

Dr Shamoushaki obtained his PhD in 2022 from the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Florence, Italy, where his research examined energy, exergy, exergo-economic, and exergo-environmental assessments of geothermal power plants across European case studies, supported by Horizon 2020 funding. He holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology. His research interests include renewable energy, life cycle assessment, thermodynamics, supply chains, carbon capture, exergy and exergo-economics, net zero, and hydrogen. Key publications include studies on the net-zero life cycle supply chain assessment of heat pump technologies (2024), comparative life cycle assessment of integrated renewable energy-based power systems (2024), and sustainability of green hydrogen technologies (2026). He has contributed to projects assessing environmental impacts of semiconductor technologies and hydrogen standards in the G20.
