About Muhammad Fikri

Muhammad Fikri Sigid is a Doctoral Researcher and PhD Candidate in the School of Science at the University of Waikato. He is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Sciences at the University of Waikato. His research focuses on climate change, climate variability, extreme weather events, and atmosphere-ocean interactions, with particular emphasis on extreme rainfall in New Zealand.

Sigid has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including “On the Future of Extreme Rainfall in New Zealand” (2026), “Understanding past record-shattering rainfall events in New Zealand” (2025), and earlier works on CO2 fluxes and environmental parameters in tropical coastal regions (2023–2024). He has contributed to studies examining record-breaking rainfall events and future projections under changing climate conditions. Sigid is affiliated with Te Aka Mātuatua School of Science at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand.
