About Musawenkosi

Prof. Musawenkosi Donia Saurombe is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of Department for the Human Resource Management programme in the Department of Industrial Psychology and People Management at the University of Johannesburg. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Psychology in 2017, becoming the youngest female Ph.D. graduate in Africa at the age of 23. Prior to joining the University of Johannesburg in 2021 as a senior lecturer, she served as a postdoctoral research fellow at North-West University and as a senior lecturer at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein. She was promoted to associate professor at the University of Johannesburg in 2022.

Prof. Saurombe lectures in human resource management and industrial psychology and supervises postgraduate research. She is an NRF-rated Y2 researcher and has received multiple awards, including the NRF Early Career/Emerging Researcher Research Excellence Award in the Social Sciences category in 2025, the NWU 2023 Alumni Young Alumnus Award, and recognition as a finalist in the Woman of Stature Awards and Accenture Gender Mainstreaming Awards. Her research focuses on talent management and related areas in industrial psychology. She is also recognized for her contributions as a civic innovator, particularly in initiatives supporting women and youth.
