Dr Nai-Chieh Liu obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from National Taiwan University. She joined the Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome research team in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge in 2011 as an MPhil and PhD student. During this period, she developed a non-invasive respiratory function test for brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome using whole-body barometric plethysmography and received training in upper airway surgery.
Dr Liu completed her PhD and began a residency in small animal surgery in February 2018. She subsequently served as a Clinical Research Fellow, running the BOAS laboratory. Her academic interests include head and neck surgery, respiratory physiology, and medical statistics. She has contributed to research on outcomes and prognostic factors of surgical treatments for brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome and conformational risk factors in affected dog breeds.
