About Natasa

Nataša Pržulj is Professor of Computational Biology at Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). She has been a Full Professor of Computer Science at University College London since 2016 and has held a prestigious ICREA Research Professorship since 2019. She obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, as well as a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science with First Class Honors from Simon Fraser University. Professor Pržulj is a leader in biological network analysis and a pioneer in network biology geometry applied to personalized (precision) medicine. In 2004, she introduced graphlets to extract biomedical knowledge from molecular networks in a cell, which form the basis of many AI methodologies and are the subject of around 23,000 research papers and hundreds of patents. Her current research focuses on developing new AI methods for multi-omics data fusion applied to precision medicine and the discovery of precision therapeutics.

Professor Pržulj’s research has been supported by over €27 million in competitive funding, including three European Research Council grants (Consolidator, Proof of Concept, and Starting) and an NSF Career award. She received the British Computer Society Roger Needham Award in 2014. She has been elected Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (2025), Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology (2024), Fellow of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (2024), Fellow of the British Computer Society Academy of Computing (2013), Member of Academia Europaea (2017), and Member of the Serbian Royal Academy of Scientists and Artists (2019).
