Dr. Ndivhuwo Shivambu is a Post Doctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer in the Department of Nature Conservation at Tshwane University of Technology. She holds a BSc in Botany and Zoology and an Honours degree in Zoology from the University of Venda. She completed her MSc in Zoology at the University of Pretoria, where her research examined the role of the pet trade and scientific laboratories in facilitating the spread of invasive rodents in South Africa. Her PhD at the University of KwaZulu-Natal focused on the risks associated with exotic mammal species in the South African pet trade, incorporating molecular biology techniques such as DNA barcoding to assess genetic diversity and monitor invasive species, as well as studies on exotic bird species establishing feral populations.

Her research specializations include conservation biology, invasion biology, wildlife trade, and molecular biology, with interests in biodiversity conservation and invasive species management. She is affiliated with the Faculty of Science at Tshwane University of Technology and maintains an active research profile through publications on topics such as the international pet trade in South African species and assessments of alien plant invasions.
