Professor Ning Jiao is a faculty member in the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Peking University, affiliated with the State Key Laboratory of Natural and Biomimetic Drugs. He earned a B.S. in Organic Chemistry from Shandong University in 1999 and a Ph.D. from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2004 under the supervision of Professor Shengming Ma. He completed postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung in Germany from 2004 to 2006 as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow under Professor Manfred T. Reetz.
Professor Jiao joined Peking University in 2007 as an Associate Professor and was promoted to Full Professor. His research focuses on the development of green methodologies for the synthesis of bioactive molecules and drugs through C–H and C–C bond activation as well as skeletal remodeling. He has received numerous honors, including the Wu Jieping – Paul Janssen Medical & Pharmaceutical Award in 2025, the New Cornerstone Investigator Program in 2023, fellowship in the Chinese Chemical Society in 2022, the XPLORER PRIZE in 2021, and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. He serves as Associate Editor of Chemical Science and on the editorial boards of the Chinese Journal of Chemistry, Heterocyclic Communication, and Scientific Reports. Professor Jiao is a Yangtze River Scholars Distinguished Professor.
