About Noriyuki

Noriyuki Furusawa serves as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Sport Culture at Nippon Sport Science University, a position held since April 2021. He graduated from the Department of Martial Arts in the Faculty of Physical Education at Nippon Sport Science University in 2004.

His academic work centers on kendo, including the development of kendo image scales, psychological and physical traits of university kendo players, the effects of aromas on kendo athletes' conditioning, and the impact of demonstration videos on martial arts learning for overseas audiences. Key publications include studies on kendo image structures among students, competition skills of male and female university kendo players, and psychological changes before and after matches. In 2022, he received the Excellent Presentation Award at the 87th Conference of the Japan Society of Applied Psychology. Furusawa holds committee roles such as secretary of the Kanto Student Kendo Federation's Board of Directors and has served on councils of the Tokyo Gakuren Kendo Federation. He maintains memberships in organizations including the Japan Society of Physical Education, Health and Sport Science, the Japan Society of Applied Psychology, and the Japan Budo Society.
