About Patricia

Professor Patricia M. Davidson is a registered nurse with over four decades of clinical, teaching, and practice expertise in cardiovascular science. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Wollongong in 1985 and a Master of Education from the same institution in 1993. She completed a PhD at the University of Newcastle in 2003. Her research specializations include cardiovascular health, women's health, global health, and cardiac nursing, with a focus on improving outcomes for women and Indigenous peoples.

Prior to her appointment as Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Wollongong in 2021, Professor Davidson served as Dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She stepped down from the Vice-Chancellor role in 2024 and holds positions including Honorary Fellow at the University of Wollongong School of Nursing and Vice Chancellor's Fellow at the University of New South Wales. She has authored nearly 600 publications and 29 book chapters. Her contributions have been recognized with an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of Nursing. Professor Davidson is noted as the first woman, first alumna, and first nurse to serve as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Wollongong.
