Professor Percy Sepeng serves as Dean of Students at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a role he has held since May 2024. He holds a PhD in Mathematics Education from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and has completed all modules for the Master in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa’s Graduate School of Leadership. He is currently an LLB candidate. In 2018, he delivered his Professorial Inaugural Lecture. Sepeng previously held positions including Head of Institutional Renewal and Transformation and Senate representative on the Council at the Central University of Technology, Acting Head of the School of Education, Head of Mathematics, Science and Business Education, and Full Professor of Mathematics Education at Tshwane University of Technology. He also served as Director of the School for Teacher Education and Training at North-West University and contributed to curriculum development, quality assurance, and research in mathematics and science education at the University of South Africa, University of the Witwatersrand, and Nelson Mandela University.
In his current position, Sepeng focuses on enhancing the student experience through initiatives promoting inclusivity, wellness, and addressing gender-based violence. He has worked to integrate sports programs and services for differently-abled students within a unified Student Affairs structure and supports the implementation of the UKZN Student Experience Strategy 2023-2027. His academic background centers on mathematics education, with prior leadership in teacher education and institutional transformation across multiple South African universities.
