Professor Pitika Ntuli serves as the holder of the UNESCO Chair in Culture and African Heritage at the University of Fort Hare. A South African sculptor, poet, writer, and academic, he was born on February 18, 1942. His work explores themes of African spirituality, identity, and heritage through sculpture and poetry. Ntuli has contributed to political and artistic discourse in South Africa, including during periods of exile.
In 2025, the University of Fort Hare announced the establishment of the UNESCO Chair in Culture and African Heritage under Professor Ntuli as part of its expanding portfolio of research chairs.
