About Poh Seng

Poh Seng Lee is Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He obtained his BEng with first class honours in 1999 and MEng in 2001 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NUS, and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2007. He joined NUS in 2007 and has held positions including Assistant Dean of Research and Technology from 2015 to 2020. He currently serves as Executive Director of the Energy Studies Institute, Director of the Centre for Energy Research and Technology, and Co-Director of the Singapore Energy Centre. He is also a Dean’s Chair Associate Professor and an ASME Fellow.

Lee’s research focuses on high-performance cooling techniques, including single- and two-phase microchannel cooling, enhanced microchannel heat sinks, and advanced thermal management for data centres and high-density compute systems. His work emphasises sustainable, AI-ready digital infrastructure, liquid cooling architectures, and system-level integration suited to tropical climates. He has contributed to bridging component-to-facility design in energy and thermal systems. Lee has received multiple research and innovation awards, including recognition from NUS. He maintains an active role in academic leadership, editorial contributions, and industry collaborations on energy and cooling technologies.
