Qianxiao Li is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and a principal investigator in the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials at the National University of Singapore. He holds a BA in mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in applied mathematics from Princeton University. His research focuses on the interplay of machine learning and dynamical systems, control theory, stochastic optimisation algorithms, and data-driven methods for science and engineering. Li serves as NUS Presidential Young Professor and has received the NRF Fellowship Class of 2021 as well as the Young Scientist Award in 2024 for his contributions to the mathematical foundations of deep learning and related areas.
Li joined the National University of Singapore as an assistant professor and progressed to his current associate professor role. He maintains an active research program through his group and engages in academic activities including seminars and collaborations in applied mathematics. His work bridges theoretical developments in machine learning with practical applications in dynamical systems and control. Li contributes to the academic community through his appointments and research output at NUS.
